50th session of Académie Internationale Maurice Ravel
This training course is aimed at young musicians or music ensembles, who are following graduate or post-graduate studies or have already begun their professional career (age limit : 30)
- The number of trainees who participate in any instrument class is limited to a maximum of 12.
- Trainees have an intensive individual class with their professor at least every other day
- The trainees instrumentalists can join free of charge the classes of chamber music.
- They perform at the many concerts organized during the second week of the session
- They may attend free of charge more than 80 hours of public master classes given at the Auditorium Maurice Ravel

For 50 years, the Académie Ravel has been a top institution for French music, dedicated to the remembrance of Maurice Ravel. It explores the interpretation of the classical, romantic and contemporary repertories.
Famous composers come to share their music with the public and students. This year, Phillippe MANOURY will be in residence to present several of his works and brave them studied and performed in lessons and masterclasses.
Under the artistic direction of Jean-François HEISSER, the Académie offers an intensive training session by world famous artists and professors, vocal coaches and accompanists.
During two weeks, you will benefit from private lessons, public master classes, an extensive series of young artist concert venues. You may simply learn, prepare for competitions or develop your career path with the several artistic partners of the Academy.
Selection conditions
The training session is open to instrumentalists and chamber music ensembles (which may include a wind instrument) nearing completion of their graduate studies or starting their careers (age limit : 30).

Processing Fee
- 50 € per musician to pay at the time of application.
Teaching fees
To be paid once applicants are selected :
Instrument class : 510 €
These fees cover the tuition costs of instruments classes.
Chamber music class
o Free for students registered in an instrument class
o For members of a music ensemble :
by duo / trio member : 350€
by quartet / quintet member : 240€
Theses fees cover the tuition costs of chamber music classes.
Membership of the association Academie Ravel
Membership in the association is free of charge for all students.

English-Speaking-Union Scolarchip
Applicants currently studying in the UK or recent graduates (maximum 2 years) of a British school of music

Organization of the session
Master Classes
Only 12 students can participate in a given class.
Private classes :
Classes begin on Sunday, September 1st in the morning.
Students practice intensively in private classes with their professors, at least every other day.
Several pianists will accompany instrumentalists. (Julien Le Pape and Thuy Anh Vuong)
Public Masterclasses :
Classes take place in the Auditorium Maurice Ravel (250 seats), which gives onto a terrace overlooking the bay and the beach of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
Students may attend more than 80 hours of public masterclasses in the Auditorium Maurice Ravel during the Session. Each student participates at least to one masterclass (minimum 6 hours of lessons during the whole Session).
Practice Room
In the city center of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, practice rooms equipped with pianos are available free of charge every day.
Students undertake to maintain the premises in good order and have to register on the practice planning board in the Académie office.
Concerts
Festival Ravel’s concert in Saint-Jean-de-Luz church.
Concerts « Jeunes Talents » In the Auditorium Ravel of Saint-Jean-de-Luz or in others sites from the Basque Coast (churches of SaintJean-de-Luz and Ciboure, « Espace Culturel Larreko » in Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle) 3-4 concerts during the second week.
Opéra bouffe La Périchole by Jacques Offenbach. Lyric workshop from September 1st to 14th, followed by a performance of the new staging of La Périchole on September 14th in Théâtre de Bayonne.
Final Concerts. Auditorium Ravel : Final concerts and closing ceremony of the Académie Ravel.

Accomodation
The Académie can book for its students flats in downtown Saint-Jean-de-Luz, to be shared by 3 to 6 persons,
sheets are provided and students may cook there.
Double room (410 € per person) + a 150€ deposit
Single room (490 € per person) + a 150€ deposit
The Académie Ravel arranges accommodation only for its students.
Students are free to choose their own accomodation. Students who would like to come with a partner or with their family are requested to find their own ccomodation. The Académie can indicate them rental agencies, hotels or apartment hotels.
Pledges by students
If their application is accepted by the Selection Commitie, students will receive a complete registration file which they have to return to the academy before July 18, 2019, together with the payment of tuition fees and, if applicable, accommodation costs.
Selected students will be required to provide two press photo portraits as well as two group photos for the ensembles, to illustrate paper and digital publications. These photos will have to be digitized in HD (300dpi minimum) and free of rights.
Students waive all rights relating to video recordings, reports and photos made by the Académie Ravel or by a third party on behalf of the Académie, as well to their reproduction, distribution, broadcast, screening by any means, including by the Académie Ravel on all media.
Tuition fees do not cover insurance for instruments or personal belongings. The Académie Ravel recommends that students to take insurance for their instruments and personal belongings. The students hold the Académie Ravel, its staff and volunteers harmless in case of material damage to their instruments during the session.
Minor students participate in the Academie Ravel under the full responsibility of the responsible adult accompanying them.
Students who, for any reason whatsoever, interrupt the internship without authorization, can not claim any
refund. During the Session, all absence have to be authorized by the Académie Ravel.
